Naturally, the end is the beginning. Originally written and recorded by the Kuhl brothers in their teens, this newly revisited power-pop version (with some existential wordsmithery courtesy of Dima) aspires to blend early Eagles, Beatles and Big Star harmonies over cinematic orchestration and bombastic drums, influenced equally by the likes of Electric Light Orchestra and Pink Floyd. John and Nate both sing lead and backing vocals on this one, seamlessly and effortlessly swapping harmony roles between several sections of this medley-like collection of melodic hooks.
lyrics
how this story ends
is when heroes
make amends,
the heavens burst
into the earth,
as the rain descends
(so) let's start from the beginning,
- in a sea of doubts, -
(while) the whole world was spinning
beneath the fiery clouds
now what's left of our ability
to survive this fight
(is) caught in a wave of humility,
drowning what was right..
with the black cat's curse,
undivided,
his or hers,
the mirrors break,
trying to make
the day reverse
'cause no one's ever told him why
or taught her how
to stop breathing
underwater
before
they even dare
to get away
from this mess now
twenty-four thousand miles apart,
it's hard to finish what you start..
